If someone is to list the biggest mansions in the world, there are probably many castles in the world along with the privates of the royals, the list would be pretty long. It’s better to stay off the chart of the royals and get in the realm of normal people. Normal people with billions in their accounts, in this case. Here are the largest houses (private ones and not transformed into luxury hotels) owned by rich around the world.
1. Antilia — Mumbai, India
Mukesh Ambani is one of the richest peoples in India and the world. This oil and gas tycoon is the owner of the world’s largest and most expensive private residence. The $2 billion home is known as Anatalia which is hand in hand with the neighbouring skyscrapers with 27 storey high! Then again why not, you have the money, you have to spend it. Ambani worked with architecture firms Perkins + Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates to build him his personal skyscraper, which took more than four years to complete. There are nine elevators in the house that carry the individual throughout the house. No two floors are identical and every floor has a different floor plan and building material.
2.Biltmore Estate — Asheville, North Carolina
This one of a kind masterpiece is owned by the Baltimore family. Completed in 1895, the chateau inspired the main house consists of 250 rooms with 8,000 acres of stable, gardens and a winery farm. This house became open to the public in 1930, you can’t stay in one of the 34-bed rooms. The house is loaded with modern conveniences. This 178,926 square-foot home is considered the largest private residence in the USA.
3. Safra Mansion — Sao Paulo, Brazil
The mansion is owned by notoriously private banking family, the mansion made its way to number 3 on the list. Even though this house has been the site for many Safra family member’s wedding, there still are not enough pictures online. The house is about 10,868 square meters, which include 130 rooms, two pools and a lot of cool stuff.
4. Witanhurst London — England
Technically speaking, Buckingum Palace is the largest residence in England, but we are not counting the royals in the list. This Georgian-style Parkfield state is named Witanhurst newly and was built between 1913 to 1920. Witanhurst went through a recent renovation that added two basements, movie theatre, a sauna, gym, a 70-foot swimming pool and parking spaces that collectively take up 90,000 square feet.
5. Versailles — Windermere, Florida
The house is given to Jeff Lewis to turn the house upside down this 90,000 square feet house with his decorative sense. The house contains 32 bathrooms, 11 kitchens, 14 bathrooms, arcade, gym, salon and a movie theatre with garage space for 30 cars and 6 pools to choose from. Jackie mentioned on the Bravo show her plans for the indoor ice skating ring as she thinks that a roller rink would be more versatile. The mansion should be completed in a year or two.
6. Villa Leopolda — The French Riviera
Villa Leopolda is rich with history as it was constructed more than a century ago, given as a gift by King Leopard II of Belgium to his mistress. In this 50- acre estate situated in the French Riviera, there are 11 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms with a commercial greenhouse. The home was even used as a military hospital during World War I, also, made an appearance in many films including To Catch a Thief and The Red Shoes.
Besides being nearly 74,000 square feet, this house is also a neighbour of Jennifer Aniston. The house gives an amazing view of the city and contains 20 bedrooms, 30 bathrooms, the biggest indoor pool in the city. 8. Taohuayuan — Suzhou, China
This amazing building is a blend of modern and classic design. If the lake view does not seem enough, you can have spring for a swimming pool and pond too. The ancient gardens surrounding the garden are the Classical Gardens of Suzhou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The building contains 32 bathrooms and bedrooms with wine cellar. This is one of those mansions, you want to know the story of.
9. Pensmore — Highlandville, Missouri
Constructed for science, this mansion is supposed to withstand bombs, earthquakes and whatever it is thrown at it. The former CIA officer and astrophysicist Steven Huff wanted to use 14 bathrooms, 13 bedroom fortress as a testing ground for disaster-resistant building technology. With its distinctive features, it certainly is unique from the other mansions in the list.
10. Fair Field — Sagaponack, New York
This impressive 4,239 square feet and $2.5 million dollar house consist of the Real Housewives homes. It contains two bowling alleys, a $150,000 hot tub, squash quarts, a theatre with sitting for 164 and an indoor basketball court. It made its way to the biggest mansions in the world because, why not!
